Use CalDAV with Ridian
Updated: 2026-09-20
1. Connect your calendar account
- Open your calendar connections in Ridian and add an account.
- Choose your provider, such as Apple iCloud, GMX, WEB.DE, mailbox.org or Infomaniak. Presets also exist for Posteo, STRATO and Nextcloud; compatibility has not been confirmed live for every offering.
- Enter your username and the password required by your provider. iCloud requires an app-specific password. Enter credentials only in Ridian, never in a chat with your assistant.
- Select an existing calendar. Create new CalDAV calendars at your provider. Custom servers and Nextcloud may require workspace enablement; your plan must include CalDAV.
2. Set assistant permissions
Once CalDAV AI access is released, you can select your connected account for the Ridian connector in ChatGPT or Claude. Permit only the calendars you need. Allow reading for events and availability; allow writing only if the assistant should create or change standalone events.
A read-only calendar stays read-only even when the connector has write permission. Also choose whether your assistant can see busy times, titles and times, or permitted details.
Tell your assistant your timezone for CalDAV, for example Europe/Berlin. This is especially important for all-day events. If the calendar does not supply this information, the assistant asks rather than guessing availability.
3. Start with a test event
After release, you can ask:
- “What events are in my iCloud calendar tomorrow?”
- “Find a free hour next week across these two calendars.”
- “Create a test event without guests in my test calendar tomorrow from 3 to 4 pm.”
Check the result in your calendar app too. Before updating or deleting, the assistant should identify the specific event. If a write result is uncertain, check first rather than creating the same event as a new request.
Initial limits
- Existing recurring events, including exceptions, can be read. Create and edit CalDAV series in your calendar app.
- Update and delete apply only to standalone events without guests, organizer or meeting data, and without sync markers. Invitation responses are not supported.
- Concurrent changes are not overwritten. On a conflict, read the event again and check its current state.
- A read window may span at most 31 days. Use a smaller window for very busy calendars. Unsupported server responses and unknown timezones cause an error; they are not reported as free time.
- AI access to ICS feeds, contacts and tasks are not part of this CalDAV extension.
Reconnect
If an app password was revoked, create a new one at your provider and reconnect the existing account in Ridian. Avoid adding a duplicate account. If the problem persists, send support the provider, time and error message without credentials.
